The journalists Olga Maxe, Maksim Lapitsky and Jurij Gourman all have a background on Swedish Radio Radio Sweden.

Now they broadcast three programs a week, hoping to reach people in Russia who are looking for independent news.

- We perceive it as a war that we bring from here.

The radio programs we make are our weapon.

We are too old to go to Ukraine and fight there, says Yuri Gourman.

Echo Sthlm broadcasts via shortwave radio and uploads its programs on the social platforms that can still be accessed from Russia, including Telegram, Soundcloud and Youtube.

It is difficult to know how many you reach through radio, but according to Bahnhof, you have at least 1000 listeners in Russia every week via the various apps.

The editors also receive emails from Russian listeners thanking them for giving a different picture of the war than the one wired out in the Russian media.

Hope more listeners now

On the popular Telegram app in Russia, the program has grown in recent weeks and there the editors hope that they can reach more listeners - even dissidents.

- What is interesting about Telegram is that it is a popular channel for Russian propaganda.

That's 60 percent truth and 40 percent propaganda, I would say.

That is why the authorities do not close it, says Yuri Gourman.
