Punch operation in the subway.

This Thursday afternoon, an impressive security system was deployed in the Rennes metro stations with the presence of around fifty municipal and national police officers, customs officers and Star network controllers.

For nearly two hours, the agents carried out narcotics checks and checked whether the users were in good standing and wore the mask inside the stations and trains.

"These operations have a double interest, first of all to make all those who are in breach of the rules safe, but also to secure all the other travellers", underlines Commander Renaud Moal, who was leading the operation.

“We are also marking our territory before the opening of the second metro line”, continues the policeman, specifying that the control operations “will increase in the coming weeks”.

We do not know for the moment the precise results of the operation.

According to the first elements communicated, a dozen people received a fine of 135 euros for not wearing a mask.

Four others were also fined for possession of narcotics.
