35 years after the death of Thomas Sankara, former President Blaise Compaoré was sentenced to life imprisonment for his participation in the assassination of the father of the Burkinabe revolution.

Chief Warrant Officer Hyacinthe Kafando and General Gilbert Diendéré were also sentenced to life imprisonment.
