The support for cultural workers and cultural institutions was too difficult to understand, and several who were entitled to support were left without, according to the National Audit Office in its review.

Kristina Axén Olin, cultural policy spokesperson for the Moderates, is critical.

- This shows both that we have too many authorities and that there is a great lack of information.

There is also a lack of interest from our Minister of Culture to do something about what it looks like, she says.

- It is obvious now that we must ensure that our people in the cultural industry can actually support themselves and become self-sufficient as far as possible.

"Remarkable statements"

The extensive administration is about the grants being able to be distributed in a safe way, says Minister of Culture Jeanette Gustafsdotter (S).

- The reason for having different administrative measures for distributing support is for the support to be legally secure - nothing else.

I know that the supporting authorities have worked to facilitate the application - but ultimately it is about legal certainty about how the money is distributed.

The Minister of Culture is surprised by the Moderates' statement that politics should work for the cultural industry to become self-sufficient.

- These are remarkable statements.

Especially when we have an industry that has been hit extremely hard for two years.

If there is something the cultural industry needs now, it is all the support they can get, says Jeanette Gustafsdotter.
