Salangidae fishing, which announces the arrival of spring, has begun in Akkeshi, Hokkaido, and fresh Salangidae are being shipped one after another.

Salangidae from Akkeshi Town is characterized by its clear and beautiful body, and is popular as a high-class ingredient used in kaiseki cuisine.

Fishing began on the 1st of this month and was big on the market on the morning of the 5th, with about 10 centimeters of fresh fish and about 36 kilograms being brought in one after another.

Demand has been sluggish due to the influence of the new corona, and even at the auction on the morning of the 5th, the price per kilogram is 1680 yen to 2500 yen, which is about half of the average year.

This time, the traditional fishing method called "Zhangmachi net fishing", which has continued in Lake Akkeshi and attracts whitefish by stretching a V-shaped net, has been closed due to a decrease in fishermen, and a small set net by a small boat. Only fishing is done.

Katsumi Kojima, the leader of the Akkeshi Fisheries Cooperative Salangidae Set Net Fisheries Group, said, "The amount and shape are reasonable. I definitely want you to taste it with tempura."

Akkeshi-cho's fishing for Salangidae will continue until mid-next month.
