From this year, the Yamaguchi Prefectural Police Headquarters has introduced a maternity uniform that is elastic and does not burden the stomach so that pregnant female police officers can work comfortably.
The newly introduced maternity uniform looks the same as a normal uniform, but it is spacious and the swelling of the stomach is not noticeable, and the waist area is made of rubber so that it does not put a burden on the stomach.
Three types are available for summer, winter, and spring / autumn according to the season, and will be lent to the desired female police officer.
Until now, it was possible to work in plain clothes during pregnancy, but when a questionnaire survey was conducted with female police officers, about 60% said that they wanted maternity uniforms and decided to introduce them.
The Yamaguchi Prefectural Police has 337 female police officers, which is about 10% of the total, and the Prefectural Police Headquarters will continue to work to create an environment where women can work comfortably.
