  Zhu Jinlei, 38 years old this year, joined the Red Cross Society of Zhengzhou City after transferring from the army in 2013. He became a human organ donation coordinator in 2015. He has participated in the coordination of more than 200 cases of organ donation in the past 8 years, and nearly 700 people have been reborn as a result. .

  In 2010, China officially launched the pilot work of human organ donation, and the profession of human organ donation coordinator came into being.

In 2015, citizens' voluntary organ donation became the only legal source of organ transplantation in China. More and more human organ donation coordinators like Zhu Jinlei are taking up their jobs. The bridge of life is called "the ferryman of life".

Zhu Jinlei said that this is a job with great responsibility.

The first time I went to the scene, the emotional impact was very strong

  According to relevant regulations, human organ donation coordinators are volunteers from the Red Cross and the medical system.

During the specific human organ donation process, a coordinator from the medical system and a coordinator from the Red Cross are required to be present at the same time.

  Zhu Jinlei still remembers the scene when he rushed to the hospital for the first time to perform his duties eight years ago.

"It was shortly after New Year's Day in 2015. I was notified to go to Zhengzhou No. 7 People's Hospital to coordinate and witness an elderly mother donating her son's organs." He recalled that the first time he went to the scene, the emotional impact was very strong, "One When I arrived at the scene, it was the scene where the white-haired man sent the black-haired man to die, and he unconsciously became depressed. He found that his language was pale and weak, and he didn’t know what to say to his family.” That time, the deceased donated his liver and kidneys, and Zhu Jinlei's inner turmoil could not calm down for a long time.

  He explained that when he saw his life in his prime years pass away like this, his relatives were heartbroken, and it was impossible for him not to feel sad. "Many times, my tears were swirling in my eyes when my relatives were crying", but , At the last moment of the donor's life, the donor himself or his relatives made the selfless choice of donating organs, gave the gift of life, and let the life and dreams of the deceased continue on the recipient's body. This relay of life and love is passed on to him And the fundamental motivation for many human organ donation coordinators to persist in their work.

  Since working, Zhu Jinlei has developed the habit of not turning off his mobile phone at night, because late night and early morning are often the time for organ donation. As soon as he is notified, he will rush to the scene as soon as possible.

  ICU, mortuary, funeral home, household registration rooms, village committees, cemeteries... Zhu Jinlei often travels to these places to verify the information of the deceased and successfully complete the donation, and send the deceased on the last journey.

"Human organ donation is an act of great love, and the work of the coordinator should also be more humane, empathizing with the relatives of the donors, understanding their grief and helplessness, and helping them solve their difficulties."

  Zhu Jinlei said that he was sometimes apprehensive, because the coordination work must be meticulous and meticulous according to the rules and regulations, and there should be no mistakes.

Caring for the living is a condolence to the dead

  Zhu Jinlei's mobile phone contains many contact information of the family members of the deceased. He often greets and cares about the living conditions of the family members, which is what he asks of himself after work.

A girl named Youyou (pseudonym) once completed high school and entered university with the support of Zhu Jinlei.

  In 2017, Zhu Jinlei coordinated a case of human organ donation at Zhengzhou People's Hospital. Youyou is the daughter of the deceased, who has just entered high school.

"As soon as she saw me, she cried bitterly and said, 'Uncle, I have no home, no one wants me'." Youyou is a single-parent family. She lived with her father and grandmother in the countryside since she was a child. There is also a deaf-mute uncle in the family who needs to be taken care of. The father is the pillar of the family.

"The little girl is very sensible. After consultation with her family, she decided to donate her father's organs. She expressed her support and said that she hoped to help other families struggling in despair."

  After the matter was settled, Zhu Jinlei was always concerned about Yoyo's study and life. "After discussing with my four comrades in arms, I decided to give each of them 100 yuan per month to subsidize her. I hope she can successfully complete her studies and change her destiny by going to school."

  When filling out the application for the college entrance examination, Youyou also followed Zhu Jinlei's suggestion and chose the nursing major, and completed her university studies with her own efforts. Now she is working as a nurse in a hospital in Shaanxi.

  As the human organ donation coordinator, Zhu Jinlei has already registered himself for voluntary organ donation.

He also saw a gradual increase in the number of people who registered for organ donation before his death, and often encountered relatives who took the initiative to contact the Red Cross to request organ donation, and the time for coordination was shortened accordingly.

Zhu Jinlei believes that this is social progress.
