April 5th is the Qingming Festival, the last day of the Qingming Festival holiday.

According to the statistics of the Qingming Festival Sacrifice and Sweeping Work Office of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China, 21,795 funeral service agencies opened on-site sacrifice sweepers across the country that day, and received 5.97 million people on-site sacrifice sweepers; funeral service agencies across the country opened 1,523 online sacrifice sweeping platforms, and logged on to online sacrifice sweeping platforms. 8.56 million people were scanned.

Because this year's Tomb-sweeping Day holiday coincides with a period of high domestic epidemics in China, Chinese officials advocate civilized and low-carbon sacrifice sweeping methods such as online sacrifice sweeping, flower sacrifice sweeping, and family memorial service.

In addition, many funeral service institutions in medium and high-risk areas have not been opened due to the requirements of epidemic prevention and control. Therefore, the number of people who went to funeral service institutions to participate in on-site sacrifice sweeps during the Qingming Festival holiday this year has dropped significantly.

According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, during the three-day Tomb-sweeping Day holiday this year, 17.54 million people across China received on-site sacrifices, a decrease of 74% over the same period last year.

There were 21.56 million people who logged in to the online sacrificial scan, an increase of 192% over the same period last year, proving that the online sacrificial scan is more and more accepted.

About 3.67 million vehicles were guided, a decrease of 71% compared with the same period last year; 1.03 million staff members participated in service guarantee, a decrease of 15% compared with the same period last year.

Over the past three days, the ritual sweeping activities in various places have been safe and orderly.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs stated that with the end of the Qingming Festival holiday, the mass sacrifice and sweeping activities of the people in various places are coming to an end, and some people will still carry out sacrifice sweeping activities in the follow-up.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs will continue to guide local civil affairs departments and funeral service agencies to conscientiously implement the requirements for epidemic prevention and control in places of worship, strengthen safety management, and strictly prevent accidents such as cluster infection, congestion and stampede, and achieve healthy, safe, and civilized worship.
