Real estate, transport, food, clothing, travel, taxes… Being a consumer is a job in its own right and on a daily basis.

But it's not always easy to find your way through the jungle of regulations or alleged bargains.

Do not panic !

and its partner UFC-Que Choisir are there to help you, by answering your questions in the Brief Conso.

This week, we are talking about the impact of pesticides present in food on health.

If the European Food Safety Authority (Efsa) states very clearly that it is "unlikely" that the contamination of food with pesticides "represents a risk for the health of consumers", the UFC-Que Choisir recently published an investigation questioning this assertion.

Indeed, according to this work, more than half of plant products from conventional agriculture are contaminated with risky pesticide residues.

But not all at the same level.

The consumer association has also listed and compared 70 types of products, indicating their frequency of contamination with a risky pesticide residue.

But what are the regulations in force governing the use of pesticides?

What diseases can occur following their absorption?

Does eating organic reduce the risk of ingesting it?

The answers to your questions are in our new Consumer Brief with Elsa Abdoun, journalist at Que Choisir.
