An object of Wajima-nuri globe that expresses the world of the night is exhibited at the museum in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture.

The "Wajima-nuri Large Earth" is on display at the Wajima Museum of Lacquer Art in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture.

The local Wajima Nuri Preservation Society has been working on the production for five years at the request of Wajima City.

Thirty-seven people, including Wajima-nuri writers and craftsmen, joined the production, and the completed object has a height of about 1.5 meters and a sphere with a diameter of 1 meter, and uses the black color of lacquer to express the earth at night.

A sphere is formed by combining a number of thin wooden boards in the shape of a ring, and based on the image data taken from space, the city lights shining on the ground at night are precisely lit using the techniques of "sinking" and "makie". I am drawing in.

In addition, photographs that introduce the production process are also exhibited in the museum.

Kunihiro Komori, chairman of the Wajima Nuri Technology Preservation Society, a living national treasure of lacquering, said, "We had a lot of discussions and it was a wonderful work that you can feel the time required for production for 5 years."
