After stopping the first episodes of her series due to immoral scenes... Laila Elwi: "I respect my name"!

After the controversy that erupted due to an immoral scene related to incest, which was included in the first episodes of her Ramadan series "Dunia Tania", the Egyptian artist, Laila Elwi, confirmed that the controversial scene is harmless to feelings and has nothing to anger the viewers.

She said in statements to "Al-Arabiya.net" that she respects the decision of the Supreme Media Council, and that the series' crew adhered to it, stressing that she listens to all observations and works with them and finds nothing wrong with that.

She indicated that she stands with the Supreme Council for Media and Censorship in one trench and works in harmony with their observations, and that she respects her name and artistic history.

The Egyptian artist revealed that she was enthusiastic about the series because it is full of interesting and exciting events and contains a societal story rich in deep details, stressing that from her excessive enthusiasm for work and her integration with the role she plays, she suffered an injury in her hand that made her undergo urgent surgery that required several stitches.

The Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt had decided to stop the first episode of the series "Donia Tania" because it contained immoral scenes.

This came on the basis of an urgent complaint submitted by Dr. Khaled Abdel Jalil, Head of Censorship of Artistic Works, who confirmed that the first episode had already been monitored, but Al-Nahar channel "deceived and broadcast the episode that includes the deleted scenes."

The Council stressed the warning to all channels that have the right to display, not to broadcast any work that does not have a license to display.

The council added that it will not hesitate to apply the standards contained in the announced media code, and that it will apply the texts contained in its law in the event of a violation that includes stopping the radio until the license of the channel itself is withdrawn if it persists in violations.

For its part, the work family issued a statement confirming its respect for the principles of society, their respect for the Censorship Authority for Artistic Works and the Supreme Media Council, and their quest to preserve the values and principles of society.

They stressed that the series was judged incorrectly based only on the end of the first episode, which is not enough to know the rest of the work events.

The family of the series considered that the censorship issued its ruling without watching the entire work, which made them demand to wait in making decisions until proven otherwise.

It is noteworthy that the series stars Laila Elwi, Magdy Kamel, Wafaa Sadek and Mai Selim.
