“Egyptian Doctors” calls for stopping an advertisement and punishing those responsible

The Egyptian Medical Syndicate called for stopping an advertisement for a men's cotton underwear company, which was shown on satellite channels and social networking sites on the first day of Ramadan.

In an official statement, the union confirmed its "rejection and disapproval of this advertisement in form and content, and indicated that it involves frank and clear bullying of the Egyptian citizen, inflaming the feelings of the Egyptian people, and showing the Egyptian citizen in an inappropriate manner, as the commercial advertisement shows the Egyptian citizen in worn underwear."

The statement added, noting that “the advertisement included abuse and insult to the medical team, as it showed the Egyptian citizen in the form of a patient requesting a medical examination, and a doctor and a nurse ridiculed and mocked his torn clothes, which contradicts the behavior of the medical team and criminalizes it by the regulations of ethics of various professions, especially the medical professions.” ».

In its statement, the Egyptian Medical Syndicate called on the concerned authorities to “stop broadcasting the advertisement immediately, and to investigate those responsible for its production and publication, in accordance with the provisions of Law 1937.”

At the conclusion of its statement, the Egyptian Medical Syndicate stressed that it "will take all legal measures against these advertisements that harm the Egyptian people and the medical profession in Egypt."
