To fight against the recent increases in energy prices, the mayor of Chaulnes (Somme) had an idea.

He sent a questionnaire to the 2,000 inhabitants of the town on Tuesday to ask them if they wanted to be part of a group of orders.

This would concern gas, electricity or fuel oil, depending on the energy used for heating and lighting, reports France Bleu.

Residents are also asked if they are ready to change supplier.

Help from specialized associations

Once the answers have been obtained, "we will contact the energy suppliers, telling them that we have, for example, 500 or 600 additional customers who can come to them, and asking them what they have to offer us", explained to our colleagues Thierry Linéatte, the mayor (PS) of the town.

The city councilor intends to rely on specialized associative structures to carry out his project.

Residents seem to be interested in the proposal.

This grouping of orders could be put in place as early as the fall, provided that the Chaulnois respond quickly, before April 15.
