Prosecution of two reporters from the Hokkaido Shimbun, who had been sent documents on suspicion of invading a building during an interview with the president selection meeting held at Asahikawa Medical University last June, for example, because they entered the university building without permission. On March 31st, both were not prosecuted.

The people who were not prosecuted were a 23-year-old reporter and a 43-year-old reporter who belong to the news department of the Asahikawa branch of the Hokkaido Shimbun.

The two were in charge of interviewing the president selection meeting held at Asahikawa Medical University last June to discuss the dismissal of the president, of which a 23-year-old reporter entered the university building, which was off limits, without permission. In March, a 43-year-old reporter was sent documents on suspicion of trespassing the building, saying he had instructed him to enter the building.

The Asahikawa District Public Prosecutor's Office has dismissed these two reporters on the 31st.

The detailed reason for not prosecuting was not disclosed.

Toru Kobayashi, editorial director of the Hokkaido Shimbun, said, "The prosecution's decision not to prosecute was taken into consideration because the purpose of the interview was to enter the building of Asahikawa Medical University. Therefore, we are working to prevent recurrence by reviewing the content of the press training. In order to serve the people's "right to know", we will do our utmost to collect and report on it so that we can earn the trust of our readers and society. ".
