The death penalty for an Egyptian who committed a crime that shook public opinion

The Zagazig Criminal Court, Sharkia Governorate, Egypt, sentenced the first defendant to death in the case of killing a martyr for a living at Abu Hammad Police Station and stealing his motorcycle (Tuk-Tuk) and his mobile phone.

The court also ruled that the second and third defendants in the same case be sentenced to one year in prison.

According to the "Cairo 24" website, the details of the case date back to February 5 of last year, when the security forces received a notification stating that the body of the victim, Muhammad Walid Hafez, 21, a tuk-tuk driver residing in Abu Hammad Center, had been found dead with bruises throughout his body. He was smashed in the head and stabbed to the neck, as the body was found next to the al-Abbas Bridge on the Abu Hammad Road - al-Tal al-Kabeer, in the Abu Hammad Center district.

The body was transferred to the mortuary of Abu Hammad Central Hospital, and kept at the disposal of the investigation authorities.

A criminal investigation team was formed, and the transactions of the victim were examined to reach the perpetrators, and it was found that 3 people were behind the commission of the incident with the intention of killing the victim and stealing the tuk-tuk from him, and they were arrested.
