Regarding the HPV vaccine to prevent cervical cancer, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has stopped actively calling for vaccination for more than eight years, but from April 1st, local governments nationwide have called for vaccination. It will be resumed.

In April 2013, the HPV vaccine was given to teenage women from the sixth grade of elementary school to the first grade of high school for free in principle, but many people complained of body aches, etc., 2 After a month, the active call for vaccination was stopped.

The vaccination rate has dropped significantly, with an estimated 1.9% of those vaccinated in 2019.

After that, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare decided to resume the call for vaccination because the efficacy and safety data were reported in Japan and overseas, and local governments nationwide will sequentially target pre-examination slips and pamphlets from April 1. I'm going to send it to my home.

In addition, all women who have passed the target age without receiving vaccination within 8 years when the call was stopped are eligible for free vaccination.

Specifically, women aged 16 to 24 years old, born between April 2, 1997 and April 1, 2006, will be vaccinated for three years until 2024.

Women vaccinated at their own expense for more than 8 years will be refunded from the local government

Women who have been vaccinated at their own expense during the eight years or so when no active call for vaccination has been made will receive a refund from the local government.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, in the case of own expense, the total cost is about 50,000 yen for 3 vaccinations, and you need to apply to the local government with a resident card to receive a refund.

The deadline for application is the end of March 2025 (Reiwa 7), and in addition to documents proving that you have been vaccinated, such as a copy of the Maternal and Child Health Handbook and vaccination certificate, the amount paid such as the receipt of the medical institution is stated. It is necessary to submit the completed documents.

However, even if you lose your receipt, you will still be paid a certain amount set by each municipality.
