Closed to the public for several years due to major works, the Dauphin's apartment will reopen from Friday April 1 at the Château de Versailles (Yvelines).

Visitors will thus be able to discover this huge three-room apartment, a masterpiece of the Rococo style, restored to the state it supposedly had in 1747. Louis-Ferdinand, son of Louis XV, then settled there.

Illustrious occupants

This apartment also hosted the eldest son of Louis XIV, the regent Philippe d'Orléans and then the Dauphin Louis-Charles, reports

.

It had then been converted by King Louis-Philippe I into a museum of the History of France from 1830 to 1837. This transformation had considerably modified this place.

Since the first restoration in 1980, everything has been done to restore it to its original state, which has now been restored.

The end of these 18 months of work also makes it possible to reopen the entire ground floor of the castle to the public, the renovation of the Dauphine apartment having been completed in 2019.
