Every Monday morning, there is a dog who sits at the elementary school gate and welcomes the children so that they can start their school life happily.

The dog Labrador Retriever "Jade" started this activity nine years ago at Hagima Elementary School in Makinohara City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Many children are happy to stroke Jade.

Jade is 11 years old, about 80 years old for humans.

Originally I was trained to become a guide dog, but I couldn't pass it in just one step.

After that, he was taken over by his current owner as a career change dog and began to participate in watching activities at a nearby elementary school together.

At the graduation ceremony in March, Jade attended as a school-approved "staff".

The 6th graders, who have been greeted by Jade every week since the 1st grade, graduated from elementary school, saying, "I'm very lonely, but I want to see you again after going to junior high school." ..

<Career change dog> At

the guide dog training center where Jade was born, about 40% of all dogs can pass the test and become guide dogs.

The rejected dogs will be taken over by volunteers as "career change dogs".

Career change dogs that have undergone various training are expected to contribute to society in the community.
