Around 2:00 pm on the 29th, the Maritime Self-Defense Force's vessels and patrol aircraft confirmed that one Russian Navy information gathering ship was sailing in the Sea of Japan about 60 km east-northeast of Tsushima in Nagasaki Prefecture.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the information-gathering ship then passed through the Tsushima Strait and left for the East China Sea.

Since the Tsushima Strait is a so-called "international strait," the navigation of foreign vessels, including warships, is internationally recognized.

It has been confirmed that this information gathering ship made a round trip to the Tsushima Strait on the 20th of this month.

As Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues, the Ministry of Defense is analyzing the purpose of navigation, seeing that Russian troops are also activating activities around Japan.
