Regarding TEPCO's plan to dilute the treated water containing radioactive substances such as tritium, which accumulates at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, to a concentration below the standard and release it into the sea, Miyagi and Fukushima's life cooperatives, etc. We submitted to TEPCO and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry about 180,000 signatures requesting processing by another method because the public's understanding was not obtained.

The signatures were submitted by four organizations: Miyagi Consumers' Co-op, Miyagi Prefecture Fisheries Co-op, Miyagi Prefecture Co-op, and Fukushima Prefecture Co-op.

In response to the government's decision in April last year to dilute the treated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant to a concentration below the standard and start releasing it into the sea from around spring next year, the group and the international community In addition to understanding, we are requesting that we deal with it by methods other than flushing it into the sea, as there are still major issues remaining in measures against reputational damage.

The signature has been called since June last year, and so far, more than 179,000 signatures have been collected from all over the country.

Katsuhito Fuyuki, the president of Miyagi Consumer's Cooperative, who submitted the signature, said, "The current plan has not yet gained public understanding. The damage caused by the nuclear accident itself remains, and the fishing industry in Miyagi Prefecture is also a neighboring country. Import restrictions are continuing. The release of treated water into the ocean will have a negative impact on the local economy, so please stop it. "
