On the Akita Nairiku Line, a railway that runs through the mountains of Akita Prefecture, a vehicle with a new design inspired by the traditional culture of Matagi was completed, and a test drive event was held today.
The new train on the Akita Nairiku Line, which connects Kitaakita City and Semboku City, is a refurbished version of the sightseeing train "Ozashiki Train Matagi," which has been in operation for four years, and was named "Akita Matagi."
The exterior of the vehicle is colored in bright red and black, with matagi and bears drawn on it.
The interior of the vehicle looks like an old folk house, and it has a profound design inspired by the life of Matagi.
About 20 people, including those from prefectures and local governments along the railway lines, participated in the test drive event and checked the ride quality while receiving explanations from the person in charge.
Hiroyuki Yoshida, president of Akita Inland Transit Railway, which operates the Akita Inland Line, said, "I think it was a wonderful train with the image of Matagi, the culture that represents Akita, so I would like many people to use it." ..
The "Akita Matagi" will run every Saturday from April 2nd, except the 3rd Saturday.
