Residents of Moret-sur-Loing (Seine-et-Marne) have transformed the front of an abandoned house into a free store.
Here, passers-by can find books, shoes, furniture or even clothes, reports
La République de Seine-et-Marne
.
The project was born just after the first confinement, in the spring of 2020. “With my neighbours, we thought it would be good to have a place where the objects would be free and in good condition.
We deposit there what we need most, ”explains to our colleagues Maud Juillerat, the one who launched the idea.
“If you can, you give, and if you need, you take”
Thus, for a few months, the free shop, located rue Georges Lioret, has become a place of passage for the inhabitants.
“The mindset is that if you can, you give, and if you need to, you take.
There is no judgment here,” sums up Maud Juillerat.
In general, what is left at the free store is quickly picked up… but also replaced.
An initiative that caught the eye of the citizen committee of Moret, who would like the concept to develop in other districts.
