[Explanation] The Lancang River Basin nourishes large tracts of land in Yunnan, including Dongzhu Village in Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, Yunnan Province.

In March this year, the second phase of the bamboo industry class of the Chinese Academy of Engineering's expert skills training class undertaken by Southwest Forestry University officially started here.

20 local villagers participated in the training.

  [Explanation] Hui Chaomao, a professor who participated in this training and lecture, is the chief professor of the Bamboo and Rattan Research Institute of Southwest Forestry University.

He will lead the villagers to build a "Demonstration Park for Rural Revitalization of Sweet Dragon Bamboo Industry in Yunnan Province" here.

  [Explanation] Yunnan is known as "the hometown of bamboo in the world", and Hui Chaomao has achieved a lot of research results and published many monographs in the 38 years of dealing with bamboo.

In 2021, he won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award for the "Bamboo Resources Efficient Cultivation of Key Technologies" project.

  [Explanation] Dealing with bamboo is inseparable from the arduous field work.

In 1986, Hui Chaomao, who was a graduate student, was entrusted by his mentor Xue Jiru to go to the Nangunhe National Nature Reserve alone to investigate and collect specimens of rare bamboo species, pear, rattan, bamboo, flower and fruit, and this experience made Hui Chaomao unforgettable for the rest of his life. .

  The place where a small bridge was built with two bamboos, just as we passed, the flood came.

We rushed over in front of us, and the latter ran back, but there was a young man on the bridge behind me and was swept away by the mudslide.

  [Explanation] Now, at the age of nearly sixty, Hui Chaomao has turned his energy to the countryside, hoping to convert the research results of these 38 years into the wealth of the villagers.

He practiced a poem he once wrote with practical actions - "Study is not a Confucianism to serve the country, and bamboo is not rich and the people are ashamed to become a career".
