Kenichi Horie, an 83-year-old ocean adventurer who challenges a yacht to cross the Pacific Ocean without calling at a single port, departed San Francisco, USA on the early morning of the 27th of Japan time.

If successful, it will be the oldest achievement in the world.

Kenichi Horie, who lives in Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture, is known for having succeeded in crossing the Pacific Ocean from Japan to San Francisco, USA for the first time in the world 60 years ago.

Mr. Horie, now 83 years old, decided to take the opposite route to the world's oldest single non-calling port across the Pacific Ocean, and a ceremony was held there before the departure.

In this, Mr. Horie said, "I am blessed with good health and am excited to have such an opportunity. I will do my best to do my best, so please support me."

After that, Mr. Horie departed San Francisco at around 1:45 am on the 27th of Japan time, with applause and cheers from the gathered people.

Mr. Horie will sail about 8500 kilometers to Japan and, if all goes well, will arrive in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture in early June.

Mr. Horie's hourly position is published on a dedicated site.
