On Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture, a maze made of about 200,000 rape blossoms raised by locals has been completed to entertain children.

In the Ono district of Sumoto City, Hyogo Prefecture, rape blossoms are cultivated actively, and locals create a maze in a rape blossom field of about 2000 square meters every year at this time of year and open it for free.

We sowed seeds in October last year, and with the cooperation of volunteers and children, we have been preparing for it by cutting a part of it in January.

In addition to the dead end on the maze course, two tunnels made by bending bamboo into an arch were also made.

Approximately 200,000 rape blossoms grew to over a meter, and children ran around to sew between flowers that were as tall as their own.

A girl in the second grade of elementary school said, "If you think there is a way ahead, you will hit a dead end, so it's fun."

Hiromi Takemoto of the "Large Vegetable Flower Sunflower Subcommittee" who created the maze said, "Rape blossoms grow by giving in to each other so that the whole flower is exposed to the sun. I want the children to understand that attitude."

The maze will be open until the 3rd of next month, after which the canola oil will be harvested.
