A memorial monument to the high school where the deceased students and teachers attended, 27 days after the accident in which high school students were involved in an avalanche during mountaineering training in Nasu Town, Tochigi Prefecture, and eight people died. Was set up and a memorial service was held.

On March 27, 2017, at Mt. Chausu in Nasu Town, Tochigi Prefecture, a high school mountaineering club gathered and was involved in mountaineering training. Eight people were killed and many students were injured.



Five years before the accident, a memorial monument was newly set up at Otawara High School at the request of the bereaved family, and on the 26th, the unveiling ceremony was held with the bereaved family and related parties attending.



The memorial monument is engraved with the words, "I will never forget the Nasu avalanche accident."



At the ceremony, on behalf of the bereaved family, Mr. Masamitsu, the father of Mr. Kosuke Sato (16 at the time) who died in the accident, said, "The memorial monument is filled with many thoughts such as a vow to never cause a tragic accident again. I want you to create a safe and secure school without letting the accident weather. "



At the memorial service held after that, the names of the eight people who died were read aloud, and the attendees silently prayed for the eight people.



Last month, some of the bereaved families filed a lawsuit seeking compensation from Tochigi Prefecture and other prefectures for the accident, saying that it was a man-made disaster due to gross negligence. I have been charged at home.
