As the effects of the new coronavirus continue, nearly 70% of nurses working in public hospitals answered that they had wanted to quit their jobs as a result of a survey conducted by the labor union.

He points out that the background is the busyness of work.

This survey was conducted by the labor union "Autonomous Labor", which is made up of local government employees, from November to January last year to nurses and clinical laboratory technicians working in public hospitals nationwide, and 7724 people responded.

When asked "Do you want to quit your current workplace?", 69.4% of the respondents answered "I always think," "I often think," and "I sometimes think."

When asked about the reasons in multiple answers, "busy work" was the most common at 61%, followed by "heavy responsibility for work" at 35% and "dissatisfied with wages" at 30%.

In addition, 22.7% of respondents said they experienced discrimination or prejudice as a healthcare professional.

A male nurse who met said, "I wear protective clothing and take care of patients infected with the new corona for a long time, but I feel that not only mental stress but also physical burden is heavy."

Haruki Hirayama, director of the Health and Medical Bureau of "Autonomous Labor," said, "It is necessary to secure the necessary personnel at medical institutions and improve the treatment of medical staff."
