(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) Travelling to the Mainland or Macau via Hong Kong International Airport is subject to additional rapid nucleic acid testing

China News Agency, Hong Kong, March 27. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced on the evening of the 26th that the Hong Kong International Airport will implement special testing arrangements for the new coronavirus from the 29th of this month. Those who go to the Mainland and Macau via the Hong Kong International Airport will be boarding relevant flights. A negative result of an additional rapid nucleic acid test must be held during the formalities.

According to the Information Department of the SAR Government, in order to further prevent the export of Hong Kong cases and cooperate with the anti-epidemic work in the Mainland, passengers taking flights to the Mainland must undergo an additional rapid polymerase chain reaction (PCR) nucleic acid test before check-in. The SAR Government advises relevant travelers to reserve sufficient time for their trips.

The additional rapid nucleic acid test must be carried out at the designated testing location at the airport within 8 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight.

The special test result cannot replace any self-funded nucleic acid test negative result certificate in accordance with the current requirements of the Mainland and Macau.

The SAR Government will arrange testing institutions to provide the above-mentioned special testing services free of charge 24 hours a day.

A spokesman for the SAR government said that in order to ensure sufficient time to complete boarding and customs clearance procedures after obtaining a negative test result, relevant departing passengers should allow sufficient time to arrive at the airport at least 5 to 6 hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight, and comply with the relevant regulations. Check the instructions of the staff present to avoid delays in the trip.

Starting from the 21st of this month, the SAR government has carried out additional rapid PCR nucleic acid tests for passengers leaving the country through land entry and exit control points, and those with negative results can continue their journeys.

In addition, on the evening of the 26th, the SAR government also announced the detailed arrangements for boarding, quarantine and testing of relevant overseas arrivals, which will take effect from 00:00 on April 1.

The SAR government also stated that it is working hard to increase the supply of designated quarantine hotels to meet the needs of Hong Kong residents returning from overseas.
