On March 22, local time, severe weather such as tornadoes hit parts of Texas and Oklahoma, and moved eastward into Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama and other states.

Several towns were damaged, trees fell, and people were injured.

Officials in Jack County, Texas, said nine people were hospitalized with minor injuries and 60 to 80 homes were destroyed.

  As of 19:00 local time on the 22nd, Mississippi reported a total of 18 tornadoes.

On the same day, many schools in Louisiana and Mississippi closed early or cancelled after-school activities, and local shelters were also open to people who needed shelter.
