Recently, tens of thousands of grey cranes have stopped in clusters in the Balong area of Dulan County, Haixi Mongolian-Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai, to provide food during their migration.

The gray crane is a national second-level key protected wild animal.

Qinghai is an important passage for the migratory flight of gray cranes from north to south. It is a traveler in the province. Every spring, a considerable number of migratory populations of gray cranes pass through Qinghai. In particular, the Haixi area is one of the important clusters of gray cranes.

During the crane breeding season, there will also be a certain number of grey cranes and their close relatives - black-necked cranes mixed group activities.

Professor Guo Yumin, a crane research expert from Beijing Forestry University, pointed out that due to the continuous and stable agricultural production in recent years, the global population of gray cranes has increased, and the proportion of young birds in the group is relatively higher than that of other cranes.
