The request for dissolution of the Nantes révoltée collective announced at the end of January by the Ministry of the Interior caused a stir.

But two months later, the procedure has "not been initiated", said the group's lawyer and far-left media on Wednesday.

“To date, rebellious Nantes remains without news from the government on any grievances that would be alleged against it.

(…) What is certain is that the dissolution procedure has not yet been initiated”, assured Me Aïnoha Pascual.

The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, had announced to the National Assembly that he had decided "to initiate the adversarial process which would allow the dissolution of this de facto group".

The launch of such a dissolution procedure presupposes that the government sends a letter of grievance to the association concerned.

The latter then has fifteen days to present its arguments to the government.

“It doesn't take two months to make a list of grievances when you really have grievances,” said the lawyer.

Asked, the Ministry of the Interior did not wish to speak.

“He was not aware of what revolted Nantes is”

"Nantes revolted", which presents itself as an "autonomous and committed media" and challenges the qualifications of "group", "small group", or "de facto group", is regularly singled out by the authorities for violence during demonstrations .

The dissolution procedure had been mentioned by the Minister of the Interior following incidents that occurred in Nantes on the sidelines of an “antifa” demonstration.

“We assume that when Gérald Darmanin made this announcement, he was responding to a request from elected LR and LREM, but that in reality he moved too quickly because he was not aware of what what Nantes is in revolt.

He thought he could use the procedure for dissolving groups and associations without knowing that he was actually referring to a media,” continued Me Pascual.

In addition to a website and a Facebook page which has more than 220,000 subscribers, Nantes révoltée has been publishing the paper magazine “Counter-attack” since January.

A petition launched against its dissolution had collected more than 40,000 signatures.
