The indicted were Aya Nishida (34), who lives in Okayama City, and Seiji Funabashi (38), an interior worker who is a dating partner.
According to the indictment, in September last year, the two men repeatedly abused Mr. Maai Nishida, who was five years old at the time, in a pot placed on a chair at the home of defendant Nishida in Okayama City for a long time until dawn. In addition, he was accused of being confined to death, alleging that he wrapped his whole body in a futon and left it in a closet to make it incapable of escaping and then killed him.
Ms. Maai was taken unconscious to the hospital, and four months later, in January, she died of hypoxic encephalopathy.
According to investigators and child guidance centers, abuse of Ms. Maai has been confirmed for about three years, and her abuse, such as her usual lack of food, was set up at her home. It was recorded on the camera.
The prosecution has not disclosed the approval or disapproval of the two.
