Inform, educate, and raise awareness.

This is the credo of AyiboPost, a young Haitian media, created in 2015, which innovates and denotes in the journalistic landscape of the country.

Passing through Paris, its publishing director Ralph Thomassin Joseph is our guest.

"

 Providing quality information

", such is the ambition of

AyiboPost

according to Ralph Thomassin Joseph, the publishing director of this young media which employs 24 people, including 16 journalists and audiovisual developers.

A young media, directed and produced by young people

", defends our 35-year-old guest who explains that he became a journalist because of the "

lack of quality information

 " in Haiti.

I didn't want to reproduce what I saw

: an irresponsible state, elites who have abandoned the country.

There is a generation of young people who want to see things differently.

We are a generation that is questioning everything.

It is with this in mind that AyiboPost was born, breaking with what existed and that we are questioning

 ”, specifies Ralph Thomassin Joseph.

AyiboPost therefore insists “

on explanatory content, produced largely in Creole to be accessible to more people

”.

Content that “

will always be free

” and without advertising, which allows “

independence to carry out investigations, in particular on corruption files that involve companies and political figures

 ".

An independence that disturbs today.

AyiboPost is the target of threats and kidnappings, which despite everything do not demotivate its members.

"

We are a space that legitimizes a certain discourse

 ", summarizes Ralph Thomassin Joseph

Guatemala: the exile of the judges

Guatemala anti-corruption judge Erika Aifan tendered her resignation this week.

Exiled to the United States, she is not sure of returning to her country one day.

She collected testimonies according to which President Giammattei would have partly financed his campaign with bribes recovered from large construction companies.

She has also handled cases involving military officials and deputies.

And Erika Aifan is far from being an isolated case.

In one year, no less than 15 judges have left Guatemala because the government arrests magistrates who are investigating cases of institutional corruption.

No recount of votes in Colombia

Colombia's electoral authority finally backed down from asking for a recount of ballots from the March 13 senatorial elections, after inconsistencies in the initial count raised suspicions of fraud on both the right and left.

“

For the tranquility of the political forces, I will not file a request for a recount of the ballots

said the head of the electoral authority, Alexander Vega, during a meeting with the government and representatives of political parties.

Under the fire of criticism from power and the opposition, the latter announced on Monday March 21 a new count of ballot papers for the elections to the Upper House.

The left, which largely won the parliamentary elections (legislative and senatorial), reacted by denouncing an attempt at manipulation.

The left-wing candidate for the presidency Gustavo Petro had notably considered that it was a question of reducing the votes obtained in the provisional count.
