Italy celebrates Sharjah as guest of honor at "Bologna Children's Book"

In the presence of diplomatic figures, representatives of major cultural institutions, and European literature and art figures, the Italian city of Bologna raised the UAE flag, announcing its celebration of the Emirate of Sharjah, the guest of honor for the 59th session of the “Bologna Children’s Book Fair”, and an introduction to the emirate’s experience and its cultural project that advances the visions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to the world as a model for knowledge cities that achieve their comprehensive renaissance by investing in knowledge and awareness.
This came during the opening ceremony of the exhibition, in the presence of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association, and Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah and head of the Sharjah delegation participating in the exhibition.
In a speech he delivered to the guests and attendees, on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi referred to the ties that unite Sharjah and the Italian city of Bologna, and stressed that what unites the two cities is embodied in their focus on culture and interest in the book and publishing industry.
In her speech, Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association, said: “Over the past two years, the world has realized the importance of the publishing industry, and we have been keen to be one of the sources of help, safety and security for millions of children and readers, in a world that has witnessed the spread of challenges due to the (Covid-19) pandemic.” .
She added: "I am proud of the work that publishers around the world are doing to serve their communities and adapt to the rapid changes, and it is important that we work to strengthen our endeavors to achieve our common goals based on a single vision and a clear roadmap."
During its participation in the exhibition, Sharjah presents a vivid image of the Emirati and Arab cultural scene, as it organizes a number of dedicated dialogue sessions.
