A former section chief of a post office in Tachikawa, Tokyo, was arrested for deceiving about 13 million yen worth of stamps from his place of employment.


In addition, there is a suspicion that stamps worth about 290 million yen were illegally obtained and cashed, and the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating further.

The person arrested was Hideyuki Omori (56), a former general manager of the Tachikawa Post Office in Tachikawa City, Tokyo.



According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, the former chief is suspected of fraud last year for defrauding about 13 million yen worth of stamps from his place of employment.



He abused the mechanism of exchanging miswritten postcards for stamps, and obtained a large number of stamps and cashed them at ticket shops in Tokyo.



According to an investigation by Japan Post, it was found that there was a suspicion that stamps worth about 290 million yen had been illegally obtained, and the former section chief was disciplinary dismissed and criminal charges were filed.



According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, he admitted the suspicion to the investigation and stated that he used it for stock investment, so he is investigating further details.
