• Recently Caesarized for "Lost Illusions", Vincent Lacoste finds an exciting new role.

  • He plays Fernand Iveton, an activist for the independence of Algeria who paid for his commitment with his life.

  • "Of our wounded brothers" allows the actor to deliver a sober and dignified performance.

We can't stop Vincent Lacoste anymore.

A César to celebrate his performance in

Lost Illusions

, a comic book album by Riad Sattouf called

Le Jeune acteur

on the beginnings of his career, a video participation in the play by Christophe Honoré

The Sky of Nantes

and especially the main role of

Of our wounded brothers

of Hélier Cisterne make it impossible to circumvent.

He portrays Fernand Iveton, an independence activist executed in 1957 during the Algerian War, and embodies him with remarkable sobriety.

“This character is the most tragic I have ever played, explains the actor to

20 Minutes

.

I don't really see him as a hero but as an ordinary man who has been overtaken by events.

This worker planted a bomb in his factory in Algiers and was sentenced to death for the example although there were no victims.

A remarkable performance

“I was overwhelmed by Joseph Andras' book which traces the life of Fernand Iveton, insists the actor.

Militancy was part of his DNA and he could not give up his commitment even out of love for his wife.

The director of

Vandal

(2013) insists on the couple's relationship as well as the involvement of a desperate woman played by Vicky Krieps.

Vincent Lacoste's youthful appearance makes his ordeal all the more poignant until a very harsh execution sequence filmed without melodramatic effects.

"I believe that this role marks a form of maturity in my work, perhaps because it is the first time that I have interpreted someone who has existed," explains Vincent Lacoste.

Of course, I prepared for my role, but that didn't prevent me from approaching him instinctively so as not to make this man an iconic figure.

At 28, the actor is in full possession of his art and enjoys filming with the same filmmakers such as Christophe Honoré and Thomas Lilti with whom he has just worked again.

“I really believe in collaborations that evolve over time,” he says.

They allow everyone to improve and I hope to start one of these with Hélier Cisterne.

There is no doubt that his performance in

Our Wounded Brothers

will remain as a stage in the career of Vincent Lacoste who denies thinking about the representation that Riad Sattouf will make of the rest of his adventures.

"Maybe one day the 'young actor' will become the 'great actor' in other books," he jokes.

But I still have to work a lot to deserve this title.

He seems on the right track to achieve this.
