China News Service reporter Meng Mingming

Villager Li Xiangzhi never thought that this huge air crash happened next to his village.

On the afternoon of March 21, a Boeing 737 flight of China Eastern Airlines from Kunming to Guangzhou lost contact and crashed in Wuzhou, Guangxi. There were 132 passengers and crew on board, and a mountain fire was also triggered when the plane crashed.

The crash site is located in a mountain pass in Mocong Village, Conan Town, Teng County, Wuzhou City, Guangxi. Li Xiangzhi, a villager in Mocong Village, was one of the witnesses at the time.

"At 2:20 in the afternoon, I heard a different roar of planes than usual. Usually we often hear and see planes passing by here, but this sound is different and very loud." Li Xiangzhi said, and then A huge explosion was heard, and thick smoke was seen from five kilometers away.

"Many villagers heard and saw it, so they went to the place where the plane crashed. They were far from the fire and saw a lot of debris and strips of cloth on the ground." Li Xiangzhi said that the villagers did not dare to go any further. Go ahead and wait for the rescuers to arrive one after another.

On the evening of March 21, firefighters from Guangdong Province who participated in the rescue across provinces temporarily rested in Mosong Village.

From the confirmation of the plane crash until late at night, rescue forces have been gathering at the crash site.

Emergency, fire and rescue personnel and vehicles from Guangxi, Guangdong and Yunnan rushed to Teng County.

The reporter drove to the highway in Tengxian County, and from time to time encountered fire rescue vehicles going to rescue. When it arrived in Conan Town, it was already late, and the roadside was full of various rescue vehicles, and the flashing lights made people feel nervous.

There is still a distance of six kilometers from Conan Town to the crash site. Due to the rugged and narrow mountain road, the villagers of Mocong Village spontaneously organized a motorcycle team of more than 60 people to carry rescue personnel free of charge.

Lee Sang-chi is one of them.

After he took the reporter to Mozong Village on a motorcycle, he immediately turned around, saying that there were still many people in need of help, and disappeared into the night.

In Mosong Village at night, all kinds of rescue workers are constantly marching on the roads in the village. There are no street lights, but all kinds of lights and torches have brightened the whole village.

Several staff members of China Unicom, who are rescue and communication supporters, each carrying a large circle of optical fibers, are rushing to the scene on foot.

In the early morning of March 22, the firefighters in Wuzhou City, Guangxi Province, who participated in the rescue, were resting, and most of them were tired and slept on the ground.

In Modong Village, Guangdong Yunfu firefighters who arrived at the crash site earlier for rescue have withdrawn for a temporary rest.

They were leaning against the wall of the mud house in the village, half-lying to rest, their faces full of exhaustion and unwilling to speak.

According to rescuers, the crash site was a mess and an indescribable tragic situation. There were debris and small aircraft parts scattered far and wide.

As the plane crashed also sparked a wildfire, there were large scorched marks at the scene.

March 21st is World Sleep Day, and there is no sleep in Mozong Village.

At the crash site, rescuers took turns participating in the search and rescue.

At one o'clock in the morning, the rescue command center temporarily set up in Motong Village Primary School was brightly lit, and the firefighters in Wuzhou City, who had just been evacuated from the rescue scene, were resting.

They leaned against the wall to doze off, and some simply slept on the ground, with shovels, helmets and other rescue protective tools beside them.

At present, the search and rescue work is still going on.
