About fifty teachers, students and parent representatives gathered in front of the Montchapet high school in Dijon (Côte-d'Or), Thursday.

They demanded an increase in the number of teaching hours and a reduction in class size.

The group intended to occupy the establishment for part of the evening, reports France 3 Bourgogne Franche-Comté.

"Institutional Abuse"

This event follows the announcement of the closure of two classes at the start of the next school year.

A professor of philosophy denounced the “institutional abuse” of which, according to her, teachers and students, already handicapped by the health crisis, are victims.

200 hours of lessons have been cut in this high school over the past seven years.

The teachers are demanding an additional hourly allocation of 100 hours and a limit of 30 students per class.

A delegation of teachers should be received on March 25 by the Deputy Secretary General of the Rector.
