The walls of the historic Al Fahidi neighborhood in Dubai, which hosts the activities of the tenth edition of the “Sikka Art and Design Festival”, an initiative of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), are inspiring spaces for many promising artists who unleashed their imaginations in creating murals inspired by the spirit of the place. The Director of the Sikka Art and Design Festival 2022, Noor Khalfan Al Roumi, indicated that as part of the strategy of art in public places implemented by the authority, which aims to make Dubai an open and global art exhibition, with exceptional and unique artistic experiences, "Dubai Culture" was keen to commission young artists. The festival, which started on March 15 and will last for 10 days, includes seven wonderful and innovative murals in style and theme, executed by male and female artists from the UAE and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, led by Emirati artist Sakkaf Al Hashimi, whose work “The Tree of Jamal Al Fahidi” embodies his vision. To spread peace, beauty and love through his artwork.

In another mural of the festival, the Chinese artist of Malaysian origin "Yung Kong Yong" in his work called "The Tree of Wisdom" combines the abstract and figurative styles.

Young's mural centers on wisdom as a human value whose essence is to explore the roots of creativity and knowledge.

He believes that a single idea can grow and expand, as the idea spreads as a “contagion.”

As for the mural “A-Live” by the Russian artist Evgenia Silvina and the Belgian artist Grimm van Gestel, it gives another dimension to the place, where energy flows between mind, soul and body, allowing us to choose between either being creative or being destructive.

The “Brotherhood” mural by artists Anne-Laurie Romagny and Robin Chloe Azadeh takes visitors on a fashion tour of the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood.

The mural “Najm of music is more beautiful with you” by the Egyptian artist residing in Bahrain, Brihan Al-Ashmawy, represents the concept of convergence between the spirit of culture and contemporary innovations.

With the participation of the New Zealand Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, a 20-meter mural will be displayed to the public in Al Seef, as an extension of the Sikka Art and Design Festival, before being shipped back to New Zealand.

This mural was completed from January 27 to 31 in Al Forsan Park at Expo 2020.

This artistic revitalization was introduced by the entertainment and culture sector of the New Zealand Pavilion in keeping with the theme of caring for people and place.
