Prince William and Kate Middleton's big Caribbean tour got off to a bad start.
Anti-royalist protests disrupted the visit of the Cambridges, who arrived in Belize on Sunday.
Before they even landed on the tarmac, they had to cancel their visit to a cocoa farm in the village of Indian Creek.
Demonstrators were ready to welcome the future monarch of the United Kingdom, due to a dispute over the landing site of the royal helicopter: it was indeed to land on the football ground of the village… Some inhabitants of Indian Creek are also in conflict with one of the Cambridge NGOs over ancestral lands.
Look good anyway
Faithful to their perfect mastery of their communication, William and Kate did not mention the welcome reserved for them in this village and preferred to relay their meeting with the inhabitants of Hopkins.
In the middle of a traditional dance, the prince even let loose while dancing a rock.
“Wow!
What a welcome !
It was a privilege to spend time with the Garifuna community and experience some of their traditions here in Hopkins.
Thank you Mama G for organizing such a special event!
“, posted the couple in the caption of a video on Instagram.
The visit is due to continue in Jamaica and the Bahamas, two other Commonwealth countries.
