Training was conducted on the assumption that an accident occurred at a research reactor in Tokai Village, Ibaraki Prefecture, which restarted last year.

The training was conducted on the assumption that a serious accident occurred in the "JRR-3" that restarted last year at the research reactor of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency in Tokai-mura.

About 400 people, including village staff and residents, participated and a countermeasures headquarters was set up at the village office.

The disaster prevention radio for residents first called for evacuation indoors, but after that, the situation worsened and radioactive materials leaked out.

In response to this, the residents started evacuating and headed to the next evacuation center in Naka City by bus from the temporary meeting place, and at the evacuation center, the staff confirmed the inspection procedure to check whether the bus etc. was contaminated with radioactive substances. Was there.

A woman in her thirties who participated said, "I felt that I should be well prepared with my child, so I participated for the first time."

This is the first time such training has been conducted after the restart of "JRR-3", and the village wants to verify the results and reflect them in the evacuation plan currently being formulated.

Norio Kawamata, Chief of the Disaster Prevention and Nuclear Safety Division of Tokai Village, said, "Because there are facilities like JRR-3 in the village, we would like to keep informed about each evacuation."
