Emmanuel Macron, officially candidate for his re-election, declared this Thursday during a press conference that he wanted to make health a priority axis of his program.

One of its goals is to combat medical deserts,

To do this, and also to free up time for doctors, the president wants, during his potential second term, to designate a health professional as "referent" in certain territories.

This could be a nurse or a pharmacist, capable of carrying out “simple acts” with patients.

Legitimate referents according to Olivier Véran

These simple acts could be a prescription renewal "or even the first delivery of certain drugs, as we did with antibiotics against urinary tract infections," said Olivier Véran this Sunday.

The nurses and pharmacists pursued between five and seven years of study.

The extension of their powers would therefore be legitimate, according to the Minister of Health.

“That a nurse, despite her twenty years of experience, cannot give paracetamol to a patient who has mild pain if it is not prescribed by the doctor on duty, when she can do it with her children once she returns home, shows that you have to evolve, ”continued the Minister of Health.
