The Dubai Design District project, known as “D3,” represents the first destination for all fields of art, design, fashion industry and interior decoration. It was established in 2013, on the recommendations of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. As part of the Dubai Plan 2021, which will enhance the emirate's position as a center for creativity, an incubator for the talented, and a global destination for investment and innovation.

Dubai Design District is the city's innovation hub, where owners of leading companies, startups and entrepreneurs gather to celebrate their innovations and take their companies and projects global.

The project is strategically located, near the Business Bay area, which is full of commercial companies, and next to Downtown Dubai, which includes prominent tourist attractions, such as Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall.

Since its launch, the project has succeeded in attracting a number of government agencies, most notably the Smart Dubai Government, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and the Dubai Sports Council.

It also attracted a group of the most famous fashion houses in the world, and shops displaying the most famous brands and luxury products, as well as a large number of famous hotels, restaurants and cafes.

The Dubai Design District project reflects a great interest in the aesthetics of design and art in all its details, starting with the modern architecture that stands out in the designs of buildings and towers in it, through the clear care for the design of open spaces, pedestrian paths and design of roads. And to give them a chance to contemplate the beauty that surrounds them.

The area also includes a two-kilometre walking track, overlooking the Dubai Creek, on both sides of which are famous restaurants and cafes, all of which provide comfort and mental clarity that helps meditation, innovation and creativity.

The project was developed in three phases, the first ended in 2015, and included many offices and showrooms, and more than 200,000 square feet of shops, in addition to 11 buildings comprising 100 shops and 1,000 offices.

As for the second phase of development, it was supervised by Foster and Partners, a well-known British company in the field of architecture, and included a group of design workshops, galleries and exhibitions, while the third phase included a promenade with a walking track overlooking the new waterfront on the Dubai Creek, hotels and recreational facilities. many.

The project also includes the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, the first university in the region specialized in design arts, offering the first bachelor’s degree in design with a multi-track specialization in the region, and offering the first integrated university education program in the field of design, in which three educational pillars intersect: Upgrading the artistic vision Experience in understanding technological techniques, and acquire a strategic approach to development.

Dubai Design District hosts many events in the fields of art, fashion and design, entertainment activities, art workshops and live performances, and these events are led by Dubai Design Week, which is considered the largest creative festival in the Middle East, and is held every year under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, aims to highlight the distinguished talents in the region, and invites international artists to share their creativity with the local community.

The event will also feature the flagship "Downtown Design" exhibition, which showcases limited-edition innovations from different brands.

The seventh edition of Dubai Design Week, which was held in November 2021, witnessed the participation of 430 designers and 560 companies, including the organization of 260 events across Dubai, making it the largest session in its history.
