The "chicken baby" risk in the eyes of the judge

I am a judge in the Juvenile Court of the Haidian District Court in Beijing.

When it comes to Haidian District, we cannot fail to mention "Haidian Education". The high-quality educational resources are leading the country in the country. Children who go to school in Haidian have a sense of superiority, and "Haidian mother" has become a proper term.

A recent joke is quite meaningful: "If football is included in the senior high school entrance examination, Haidian mother can save Chinese men's football." But from a work perspective, I also discovered the "other side" of family education.

In the field of judicial protection of minors, Haidian Court Juvenile Court has achieved remarkable results.

In 2012, I was transferred to work in the juvenile court of the Haidian Court. At that time, the juvenile trial of the Haidian Court had created a unique "Haidian model" of juvenile trials of "judiciary in the help and education".

As a "little white" in the junior trial, I agree with everyone's general perception that the children who commit crimes must be those bad children who have long been labeled as "problem teenagers".

But after 10 years of juvenile trial work, I now understand that the problem is not with the children.

Because of Haidian's unique educational environment, college students' crimes have always been tried by juvenile courts.

I remember a case of intentional injury to a college student a few years ago. Two middle school classmates A and B who were admitted to a well-known university together were lucky enough to be admitted to the same major and were assigned to the same dormitory. The two never had a conflict. .

Such a relationship should have taken care of each other, but one late night in the second half of the semester, A stabbed B with a knife while B was sleeping in the dormitory.

After A was captured, he was identified as a person with limited capacity due to mental disorder.

During the trial, we arranged psychological counseling and assessment, and found A's parents.

This is a military couple, looking gentle yet serious.

A's excited eyes when he saw his parents turned dim after 10 minutes of talking, and his head was almost buried in his chest.

We suspended the meeting.

The psychologist told me that in just 10 minutes, the "high-quality" parents had almost no emotional interaction in the meeting and conversation when they had not seen their children for more than half a year, and most of the words were filled with "must"" must" "remember" etc. with mandatory command words.

A's childhood was full of great pressure, but lacked the warmth that is crucial to growth.

When he entered the university, new living environment, new friendship, new academic pressure... everything made him feel at a loss, the pressure became a burden, he couldn't carry the one who had not grown up, and then he began to appear Hallucinations, auditory hallucinations, and eventually violence.

Such cases are not uncommon in juvenile courts.

I remember a mother telling me, "When I was at the police station, I didn't even believe that the child in that room belonged to me. How could my child commit a crime if he was so good?" Replace the prepared math problems.

She said, "It's only now that I understand how crazy I was at that time. I'm sorry for him. I forced him away." Injured others after drinking.

In another juvenile delinquency case, the defendant's classmate said to the defendant's mother, "Auntie, if you and uncle loved him more when he was a child, he wouldn't be where he is today." The mother recalled that his child She is one of the top students in the school, but she has never praised her children, always saying "you can do better in the exam next time".

Just wanting to prove that she can live without studying hard, her child ran away from home late one night and carried out a robbery.

Too harsh family education often brings children not physical harm, but spiritual harm.

Such wounds are harder to detect and even harder to heal.

As juvenile judges, we will do our best to help every child who walks into court to return to a normal life path.

But we also hope that the child will not go astray, and the primary responsibility of this responsibility lies with the parents, creating a healthy and happy childhood for the child, helping the child to establish a sound personality, and being able to face difficulties positively is the basis for the child's future to shine building.

Don't always use "other people's children" to remind your children that "I'm all for your own good" in the mouths of parents, although they are full of sincerity, but with the children's life experience and ability to understand, they are far from understanding such "careful" good suffering".

Judging from the interviews and follow-up we conducted before and after the trial, close family relationships are the foundation for building a child's sense of security, healthy parent-child interaction is the key to discovering "growing pains", and parents' actions are the best role models for children.

Academics and grades are of course important, but we must also let children do what they can.

We found that before the child has serious problems, some signals will be transmitted, such as: unwilling to communicate, irritable, unwilling to go out, suddenly paying attention to some dangerous network information, etc. Strong, generally only found by parents or other family members, once ignored, the consequences are difficult to predict.

Every case in the juvenile court involves the legitimate rights and interests of children. We have seen many growth problems that could have been avoided. Therefore, the juvenile court of Haidian court summed up its experience and explored and innovated the "2+1+2" protective juvenile trial "Haidian model". With the trial as the center, a "warning + prevention" pre-trial defense mechanism was established in advance, and general prevention; the follow-up "help and education + rescue" post-trial protection work mechanism was established, focusing on assistance.

Juvenile matters are no trivial matter. I hope that the whole society can establish the awareness of protecting the healthy growth of minors and create a happy childhood for children.
