Gender-neutral emojis showing pregnant people are part of the new range.

Among them is also a pregnant man - something that has raised many question marks in the comment field on, among others, Tiktok.

"How can a man be pregnant?"

writes a user.

Kalle Röcklinger is an expert in sexual education at RFSU.

- We are very happy that it exists now.

Emojis are a form of language and it needs to reflect reality in all its complexity.

Then we need many ways to express pregnancy while more people need to find emojis that can reflect their bodies and their reality.

They can show the breadth that exists and also help people to be more specific when they want to describe something, Röcklinger tells SVT Nyheter.

"Nothing strange"

The fact that a pregnant man is among Apple's new emojis has, as I said, been met with mixed reactions.

Something that Röcklinger is not surprised by.

- I think that it is those who do not understand who care to comment, which means that comments do not always fully reflect the public's thoughts.

But then maybe it feels unusual, or that you have not had time to think through that it is not just the person who identifies as a woman who may be pregnant.

What feels new and unusual, people can often react with surprise or wonder around and it is no wonder.

Apple itself has gone out and commented on the male pregnant emoji.

There, the company writes that it can be used as a representation of trans men or non-binary persons.
