“Stuff the pigeons with rice, not grits.” A message that angers the Egyptians!

“Stuff the pigeons with rice, not grits, to preserve the wheat.” A simple sentence was enough to ignite a storm in Egypt, and a wave of criticism on social media against the head of the Farmers’ Syndicate, Saddam Abu Hussein.

In an interview with a local satellite channel two days ago, the Egyptian official sent a message to his citizens, asking them to stop grilling wheat and turning it into grits to preserve stock, and also advised to stuff pigeons, ducks and chickens with rice instead of grits.

Although Abu Hussein confirmed, according to Al Arabiya.net, that the cultivated areas of wheat this season constitute the largest agricultural area in Egypt, this message or advice sparked controversy on the communication sites, as many Egyptians mocked it, while others considered it positive and required. In light of the current crisis and the shortage of some commodities, including wheat, as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian fighting.

It is noteworthy that Egypt has taken new measures to confront the repercussions of the Ukrainian-Russian war and stop importing wheat from the two countries from which it imports large quantities, as it directed the government to support farmers and encourage them to increase wheat quantities for the 2022 season.
