Yvan Colonna's condition is not improving according to his lawyers.

“He has never come out of a coma” since his attack in prison, explained one of his lawyers, Me Patrice Spinosi, on Tuesday to France Inter, adding that his state of health “is still extremely serious”.

“Hope exists, but it is tenuous.

On France 2, Me Spinosi refuted the diagnosis of “brain death” which had circulated on the evening of the attack: “It is inaccurate, (…) the brain is still active, after knowing how and is it 'he will be able to really restart, that's the question that the doctors ask themselves.

Currently being treated in Marseille, the Corsican independence activist is not intended to be moved: "The challenge of his return to Corsica will exist if he recovers".

A request for suspension of sentence

Me Spinosi has also confirmed that a request for suspension of sentence for “vital prognosis engaged” will be filed this Tuesday morning.

Yvan Colonna was sentenced to life imprisonment for his participation in the assassination of the prefect Erignac in 1998 in Ajaccio.

It would be “just a situation of coherence, today Yvan Colonna is no longer in detention because of his condition and he is destined to no longer be considered as such”, justified Me Spinosi.

On the other hand, Me Spinosi confirmed that "obviously there will be actions taken against the State" on the part of Yvan Colonna's family.

“The time today is not for this type of approach, (…) but it is certain that there will be questioning of a fault or a failure of the administration”.
