Starvation before bed.. here are these tips

Award-winning nutritional therapist, Kristen Bailey, discussed a question on the minds of many related to the hunger attacks that the esophagus feels before going to sleep, which often cause anxiety and inability to sleep, and the specialist told «Express»: There is no doubt that eating before going to Sleep is a health hazard, especially for those trying to lose weight or follow healthy eating habits.

"Hunger causes the release of a hormone that prevents sleep," she added.

And if you're starving, and your blood glucose levels are really low, you'll start producing a lot of cortisol, which is the stress hormone, and melatonin will inhibit.

So you have to eat something, you don't want to starve but just as much, you don't want to be full.”

And cortisol increases when you feel stressed, afraid, angry, or another type of threat-induced emotion.

It is difficult to sleep when cortisol is high, and feeling very hungry leads to high cortisol.

On the other hand, melatonin is a hormone associated with controlling the sleep cycle.

It helps the body to stimulate sleep, and melatonin is often taken as a dietary supplement for those who suffer from sleep problems.

Kristen suggested stopping eating at a certain time before bed, but in order to sleep better, she said: “For a lot of clients, I encourage them to do what's called time-restricted eating.

So, let's try to get them to eat as soon as possible but by 7:00 pm."

However, snacking on almonds before bed may help you sleep.

And “Russia Today” quoted the expert: “Some find that if they eat very early, they may eat a snack that is just a handful of nuts, not a big snack, about an hour or two before they go to bed just to stabilize the blood sugar.”

Almonds contain a high dose of melatonin.

One ounce of whole almonds contains 77 milligrams of magnesium and 76 milligrams of calcium.
