Former penal colony and leper colony, castles, churches, a cinema or an Italian theater: the Heritage Foundation has chosen 18 new sites for the 2022 edition of the Loto, allowing their rescue, the ministry announced on Monday. of the culture.

This is the fifth edition of the Mission for the safeguarding of endangered heritage, entrusted to the animator Stéphane Bern.

Among the lucky winners are the former penal colony of Belle-Île-en-Mer (Morbihan), the castle of Quenza (Corse-du-Sud), the mining headframes of Oignies (Pas-de-Calais), the Saint-Louis church in Villemomble (Seine-Saint-Denis), the old church and veterinary infirmary of the Pin stud farm (Orne), the Italian-style theater in Guéret (Creuse), the Atlas cinema in Anses d'Arlet (Martinique ) or the village of Acarouany and its former leper colony in Mana (Guyana).

The prizes awarded through the Heritage Loto will be announced during the next European Heritage Days in September.

Since the first edition in 2018, the Heritage Mission has helped 645 sites for their restoration work, including 90 emblematic regional heritage projects and 555 departmental sites.

The 2021 edition of the Loto broke a record by collecting more than 28 million euros.

Since its launch, this Loto has brought 100 million euros to the Mission.
