Taraji P. Henson wrote a lengthy post on Instagram demanding the release of Jussie Smollett, along with the hashtag #FreeJussie.
The actor, accused of having staged his own “racist and homophobic” attack in January 2019, was sentenced to five months in prison by a Chicago court on Thursday March 10.
“I'm not here to argue his innocence, but we can agree that the punishment is not fit for the crime.
“For the actress, Jussie Smollett “has already lost everything”, because he “cannot find a job.
Nobody in Hollywood will hire her and again, as an artist who likes to create, it's prison,” she continues.
“My prayer is that he is released and placed on house arrest and probation, because in this case it seems right.
